ACT Now – The Personal Development Course
Over the course of the 10 weeks, with the assistance of your tutors and a detailed workbook, you will be encouraged to identify or clarify your personal vision. Each week you will apply what you learn so that by the end of the course you will be ready to celebrate the progress you have made and be fully prepared to take whatever next steps you have identified.
Here is an outline of the themes we will be exploring each week. We will share with you some key principles and we will then work with you to apply these new ideas to your own personal goals.
Week 1 – Life Audit
Using the Wheel of Life we will “take a step back” and review what is going well, and what we might like to change or develop. We will establish a benchmark against which progress over the course of the 10 weeks can be measured.
Week 2 – Creating a Vision
Why is it important to have a vision/mission? Tools and techniques for creating a compelling personal vision
Week 3 – Goal setting and commitment to action
We have the vision, now we will focus on the steps to get there. We will share a model for setting goals in a way that maximises your chances of success
Week 4 – Motivation to action
Understanding what motivates us, and what doesn’t. Why one person’s motivator may be another person’s de-motivator.

Week 5 – What is stopping you?
What are the stories you tell yourself? What language do you use when you think about your goals? and what does this tell us about your thought processes? Developing a positive internal dialogue.
Week 6 – Beliefs
Do you have limiting beliefs or empowering beliefs? We will look at the beliefs you have around your vision and your goals and share methods for transforming limiting beliefs into positive messages.
Week 7 – Managing your emotional state
What impact is your emotional state having on your ability to achieve your goals or make the changes you want to make? Would you like to have more control? we will look at simple techniques for generating positive states such as confidence and resourcefulness.
Week 8 – What else do you need?
By this stage you will already have started to make progress, this week we will take stock and introduce a powerful model for reviewing what additional resources you may need in order to take the next steps on your journey.
Week 9 – Commitment to your future
This week we will look at the power of commitment. We will reconnect with our visions and will invite you to commit to your own next steps using visualisation and timeline techniques.
Week 10 – Celebration of successes
Sometimes it is good to pause, reflect and celebrate the distance already travelled. We will review the wheels of life and start to plan (and commit to) next steps.
