What is your Preferred Representational System – i.e. the linguistic modality you prefer to use and respond to the most? Is it, Visual, Auditory or perhaps Kinaesthetic or Auditory digital?  This online short course and assessment will help you answer this question. This short course and online assessment will answer this question and give you a clear idea of what this all means and let you know if you prefer, visual, auditory, kinaesthetic or digital (auditory digital) language in your day to day communication. In the rich tapestry of our human experience, we interact with our world through five beautifully distinct sensory pathways: the vibrant world of visuals, the rhythmic dance of sound, the deeply felt realm of emotions, touch, and body sensations, followed by the tantalising sensations of taste and aroma. In the literature of NLP, a nifty acronym, VAKOG, is often coined to embody these channels. Yet, beyond these five, there lies another channel, one that transcends sensory representation: the realm of words. Words aren’t just sensory stimuli, but rather a profound code, a language, capable of painting sensory imagery, conveying conceptual wisdom, and weaving metaphors. Without the knowledge of this code, words would be mere symbols, devoid of meaning. Think of it as a representational channel, yet not a sensory one. As we journey through life, every memory we hold, every imaginary landscape we conjure, and every lived experience we cherish, is an intricate blend of these six ‘representational systems’.  NLP Practitioners refer to these as ‘rep systems’. While each one of us taps into all of these channels, the blend is unique to each individual and the context. Imagine marvelling at an artwork, your visual senses would be most ignited. In contrast, let a symphony wash over you, and it’s the auditory pathway that takes the lead. Intriguingly, many of us, whether knowingly or unknowingly, gravitate more towards one or two of these systems. These become our preferred ways of experiencing the world, the lenses through which we perceive, think, and feel most vividly. We have put together an online assessment to help you determine which “rep system” is your preferred modality for communication. Interestingly, this is also linked to our preferred Learning Style.
